I think Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Two Tribes, feels so relevant after how divided the
nation and its people are. It's not about Russia and the USA it's the left and right
    clobbering themselves silly.

That does seem oddly appropriate for you guys over there. :/

Funny, I *just* listened to that yesterday in my car (I set my car stereo to autoshuffle *everything*...)

Different times, the imagery was all USSR/USA when it came out.

We had so much fun with movies pre-2000 let's try this one:

Try to think of 5 songs that were current during your high school years that were near the most
popular amongst you and your classmates. This will somewhat define your age range as well <G>. S
picks that I can think of from my
    years would be:

    Bad Girls - Donna Summer
Cities on Flame With Rock & Roll - Blue Oyster Cult
    Night Moves - Bob Segar
    FunkyTown - Lipps, Inc.
    Highway Song - Blackfoot

So many others from that era and I did my best to omit any BeeGees :D

This I hope will be as fun a thread.

... So eager to play, so reluctant to admit it

I am a metalhead, and I have been a metalhead for as long as I remember. Most kids in school and
high school liked whatever junk the radio was promoting at a given moment instead, so there is no
song that was popular among ($me and &classmates) and &general_population.

That said, my best friend and I had "House of Death" from Manowar as our friendship anthem.
From the top of my head:

"Blood and thunder mix with rain
into the kingdom of darknes again.
Ligthning flash, my body in flames.
All shall kneel to the sound of Death's name.

My path is set, I lived with no regret
I was sworn to kill, but never to forget.
No road back, I never will return.
Into the fire of hell I will burn and

    DIE! DIE! DIEEEEE!!!
    Into the House of Death.
    DIE! DIEEEEE!!!
    Into the fire of hell!"

Mind you, we didn't have a clue in English back then so we refered to this song as "The Song of
    'Die'".

Whether or not they were popular on the radio, doesn't really matter.

I think your friendships may have lasted longer if you used dye instead

Then wait until you listen to "Hail and Kill"

Rip their flesh, burn their hearts
    Stab them in the eyes
Rape their women as they cry
Kill their servants, burn their homes
Kill till there's no blood left to spill
    Hail and kill

That's Death Metal, right? I'm not too familiar with that
    genre.

But here are the lyrics of a tradtional irish tune that was
recorded for commercial success by at least 3 different
    artists:

    Down in the Willow garden
Where me and my love did meet
    As we sat a-courtin'
My love fell off to sleep
I had a bottle of Burgundy wine
My love she did not know
So I poisoned that dear little girl
    On the banks below
I drew a saber through her
    It was a bloody knife
I threw her in the river
    Which was a dreadful sign
    My father often told me
That money would set me free
If I would murder that dear little girl
    Whose name was Rose Connolly

[there's more.. but you get the idea]

Oh no, "Hail and Kill" is pretty much classical metal in my book.

What is up with gloomy lyrics in this thread?
