Based on what I am starting to see pop up in other groups I am a member of, I understand Hawk has passed away today after an ongoing battle with cancer :(

Hawk was a passionate sysop who was heavily involved in both the BBS and ANSI art scene. He has run a number of BBS over the years and is well known for his links with ACiD and Blocktronics and BBS such as Black Flag, ACiD Underworld, Piranha and more.

Many here will have known Hawk or had contact with him over the years. He was always very kind and helpful to me and I appreciated his involvement in fsxNet over the years along with his wider contributions to the BBS scene.

To his immediate family and the wider BBS/ANSI communities impacted by his death I extend my sincere condolences.

I also want to send aroha to Smooth and the rest of the Araknet community who will be feeling this loss keenly today.

Yes, the news are very sad. He was a devoted sysop and a good friend to alot of people in the scene. We often talked on Facetime, spent hours talking about things, life, dating and of course BBSes.

I, too, heard today; from a new user none-the-less... I'd been following Hawk's updates but didn't check, or hear any, yesterday; apparently it was on Thursday. Message from Hawk's brother;

Hello this is Ed Hubbard (Brians brother) and Steve Zimmerman (A 36 year long florida friend)

It is with a heavy heart that we have to say that Hawk is now with his Mom and Sister in heaven. At around 10:30am this morning Brian lost his fight with cancer and on behave of Ed and his family we would like to thank all of you who have known and cared for him threw out the years for you kind words and prays during this rough time. It was greatly appreciated.

Brian will be back home in Bloomington as soon as affairs are settled and we will keep you all up to date on a future planes regarding a celebration of life. Any messages can be sent through Face book messenger to Steve Zimmerman (refer to Hawks friends list to find Steve.) More info will be available shortly. And thanks again.

Hawk was a fast friend and we just messaged last week; when I dialed into Black Flag, I was happy to see my final email from him... he was enthusiastic and thankful for support - I'm bummed tonight.

Yes; condolances to Smooth and his other ANSi friends... and the scores of the BBS community who I know Hawk broke into chat, or talked in other ways, with. :/
