• File Group ?:Info file?

From paulie420@21:2/150 to All on Fri Nov 6 21:50:42 2020
I'm adding file groups for CD-ROMs I have from back in the day.
I want to display a file, either an ANSI or a README.TXT when the user joins the file group...

I notice that right in the file group editor, there is an INFO FILE entry... but I add a filename, and nothing displays. The Mystic wiki is outdated here, and doesn't show an entry for INFO FILE at all...

Am I missing like.. the whole path? Is the file group info file NOT displayed or displayed somewhere else?

If I'm wrong about it, I can think of a couple ways to make this happen.. but what way would YOU do this?

    -----
One last thing... I might possibly want to run the door apps that come with some of these old CD-Roms. They are DOS based doors, so... I run a Raspberry Pi and know door games are touchy on this hardware. I've heard some folks talk about DOSEMU2 [I think] and ways they are doing it on a Pi... do you have a suggestion of where to start sniffing? Not a full explanation but... if you run a Pi and KNOW what topics/program I should use to run doors, a quick chime would be appreciated.

    Thanks, ladies n gents!!!

    Easy enough...

I never even noticed that field... :) It must be relatively new...

If you're looking for an ansi file to show up on the screen when someone changes to a specific file group, just create the ansi file, put it in your themes text file directory, and name it 'fgroup#.ans', where '#' is the file group ID number from mystic -cfg.

For example, here on CRBBS, I have some ansi files set up like that. If you change to the fsxNet file group, which is ID 6 here, Mystic will display 'fgroup6.ans'.

The same works with the message groups, although the file names are 'group#.ans', where the '#' is the message group ID number.

Can't really help you with that one. I do know that some people have used dosbox, with varying success. I haven't tried dosemu2 yet, so I can't speak to it.

I do plan on getting the RPi3 running again, and maybe doing some shifting of servers around.

Just like always, you post the exact answer that I was looking for, BP... thanks.... furthermore, I think I'll use this for my Message Nets as opposed to showing 6 ANSIs at once during logon, or at the message menu. :P

Always appreciate your help. I'll come over to Castle Rock tonight to see how yours looks when I join fsxNet. Thanks.
