I am just curious on what is going on with VKRadioNET. That Net has been on cruse control now for almost six months witht he Sysop MIA.

I have sent several NETMail messages and even a few email messages to the Sysop. I received one reply back in October, 2022 that simply stated he would get back with me, and he was very busy. OK ???

The message traffic on the NET is almose Zero, other then the Auto Bott Messages and the Auto Nodelists that have not changed in many months.

I was simply thinking to AREAFIX the MSG boards off and simply dumping the node.

Can anyone please chime in on this ?

I've read a couple posts saying someone said that he's blah blah blah, but I missed anything that he might have directly posted.

Recently dropping a couple other dry-well FTN that were also Zombied, I was tempted to do the same with VKRadioNET, but have held off until either the last traffic died or I heard something about what is next for the network.

That sadi, while traffic flows my source sysop for FidoNet itself has also been AWOL or at least non-responsive to Netmail or Email for some time as well, though the traffic continues - though I've areafix to shut off all feeds adding back only the ones that interest me or have been requested by users.

I've heard the term "Echofade" used describing the petering out of several of the FTNs. Hopefully we can keep "Echofade" from becoming "BBSfade!!"

I cut ties with that FTN many months ago, for the exact same reasons.
Did the same with a few other dead nets also.

    Yup,

He sent me almost the same email last October whe I asked him to update someting in the node file. I again sent hime a message twice in November, three times in December, Once in January 2023 and the final time was March of 2023 ... Every Email went unanswered.

If is very obvious the FTN is on Auto and in Zombie mode. No use for me keeping it.

Seems that Tony VK3JED is more active with athletics and with a social cause he is championing (which he also runs a FTN for, and which may be more active).

Gievn the duration of the "ignore VKradioNET" period, pretty likely that unless another VK-ham takes it over, that is it done.

I'm going to disappear it from my BBS shortly.

What other ham orientated FTNs are out there?

Micronet .. You can send an email to zc@minftn.net
I subscribe to it and it is very active and HAM Focused. If you want to log into my BBS and go to the Downlaods, you can grab the full info pack and recient nodelist. Otherwise, they will send it to you in your email.

And, just for the S&G, I did a QRZ Lookup and sent the files to your email listed on QRZ. How this helps.

He got that fixed pretty much within a few hours.

Looks like his's also suffering burnout...

Would it be inappropriate for people to put a list up of other "Zombie"
FTNs? I've been considering some, but just haven't had a ton of time to
see which ones are really good. Tons of messages mean nothing if they're
all automated, right? A dozen messges a day can be amazing if they're
    all meaningful.
