From AKAcastor@21:1/162 to Roon on Tue Mar 19 13:56:20 2024
I have noticed that some fsxNet messages seem to be getting lost on their way to Roon's BBS.

For example, in FSX_LFE I have:

    1 n2qfd All Cycling?
    2 AKAcastor N2qfd Cycling?
    3 n2qfd AKAcastor Re: Cycling?
    4 n2qfd AKAcastor Re: Cycling?
    5 AKAcastor N2qfd Re: Cycling?
6 Utopian Galt N2qfd Re: Cycling?
7 n2qfd Utopian Galt Re: Cycling?
    8 Roon n2qfd Cycling?
    9 Roon AKAcastor Cycling?
    10 AKAcastor Roon Cycling?
    11 n2qfd Roon Re: Cycling?

But on Roon's BBS in FSX_LFE I see:

    139 n2qfd All Cycling?
    140 AKAcastor N2qfd Cycling?
    141 n2qfd AKAcastor Re: Cycling?
    142 n2qfd AKAcastor Re: Cycling?
    143 AKAcastor N2qfd Re: Cycling?
    144 Roon n2qfd Cycling?
    145 Roon AKAcastor Cycling?

I have noticed missing messages here and there in the past when reading mail on Roon's BBS (21:4/148). As far as I know, I haven't noticed missing messages not making it to my BBS (Another Millennium 21:1/162) but of course it's hard to know sometimes whether you missed a thing or not.

Posting here in case anyone else has noticed similar issues.

Notably, the message I posted earlier today did not make it to Roon's BBS. Making this a terrible way to sort this out with Roon. LMAO :)

Has anybody else run into lost messages? I think Roon has mentioned noticing lost messages previously, so I thought I'd go ahead and check if anyone else has run into something like this.

So I don't know if this is something to help or not.
I might engage in a conversation on fsxNet through my BBS Queen City but I might continue while I'm logged in at 20forbeers. Think that could have any bearing on it?

Seeing my call sign in the question I figured I'd offer the only variable I've introduced.

thank you for sharing this information.

It's possibly related to the new NET 4 HUB I am setting up and about to cut over to at the end of the month. Although as yet I cannot be sure but a hunch is some messages destined for the soon to be retired HUB are being prematurely sent to the soon to be put into service HUB.

But at this time I am unsure if this is the case, but that's my current hunch.

I will be pleased when we do cut over at the end of the month to the new instance of the HUB.

I'm a bit time poor at present and soon to do some travel out of town, but I'll endeavor to investigate as time permits.

    Best, Paul

I think there have been problems with lost messages on the way to Roon's BBS for at least a few weeks (I'm not sure how long the net 4 hub changes have been going on).

I messaged Roon on his BBS and he was already aware of the issue and he also suggested that the hub 4 changes may affect this, which totally makes sense.

Don't worry about spending time on this (at least on my behalf!), I think with your existing hub 4 plans you have it under control! IMO you probably have this covered already.

I have made a tweak at my end that *may* make a difference to what is happening in the lead up to the cut over to the new instance of NET 4 HUB.

It's not just Roon's, I lose some messages too. I can only tell when I see responses but not the message being responded to...

It could be that some of the messages are being rejected as BAD for some reason, either on the system in question or on one in between.
