• New External Editor...

From Thom Miller@21:2/145 to All on Wed Apr 12 09:57:45 2023
Just checking to see if this new external editor has the same issues with the strange accented I character at the start of each line. I think I need to write a couple of sentences before it shows up. This one (DCTedit) is much fancier than the old one (Gedit) and has pretty colors. :/

It doesn't show up in the quoted portion above, but in the original, it does.

    :/

I saw it in this message. It's showing up in the quoted lines as well (and in one of the earlier messages like this that I quoted, those characters seemed to mess with the formatting after I saved it).

    each line.

Okay, it *is* showing up when I log into Agency and look at the message, and I think that it *might* be related to wraparound. If these couple of sentences have it, but the next couple of long sentences where I manually hit enter before the end of the sentence don't, that means...something.

This is a long sentence that I'm using to test to see if there's something going on with the wraparound feature of the editor or if there's something
    else going on. :/

    Bah.
    Also...humbug!

I didn't have this issue with Telegard, IceEdit & FastEcho. Maybe give IceEdit a try?

This .zip contains v2.35 of IceEdit along with a key provided by the original author before he sold the software.

Ya, that was a thing at one time. Those characters are line endings although they sometimes appear at the beginning of lines.

Ice edit could insert them too but it has an option to disable them.

Anyway, your message looks good here where I am reading, I don't see them.

Thanks for the link! I grabbed it and am testing it as we speak...er, well,
at least as I type. Let's see if I still have my i issue. :/

Okay, I think that was a reply to the message I had posted with DCTedit. I've moved over to IceEdit and I'm not seeing them anymore when I log into Agency, and the screen shot in the message above also didn't have anything, so I *think* I'm good at this point. lol

I always check my messages in the AM with Coffee while I wait for work to start. So Not quite awake yet. Typically I put a quote but just forgot on this one. Sorry :D Work and kids consume a ton of time. Want to be a Sysop too well now you squeak in things.

Glad your got it sorted :D

Heh. That sounds like a *very* familiar story to me for some reason. No
worries at all. I'm happy for any reports I can get, good or bad. I
definitely don't want to pollute other people's systems with wacky, difficult to read messages... At least, if they're difficult to read, I want to to be because of my sloppy writing, not because of stuff software is inadvertently doing.

Glad your got it sorted :D

    Thanks!
