I have to get off from drinking soda. My weight came back to 240. My new job is making me a bit out of shape. I think limiting soda to 1 can a day and start eating more rice, steamed vegtables and tuna/chicken and I should be doing better in the long run.

... No one knows what's next, but everybody does it.

Well..... yeah, that's a good start. Lots of carbs in rice. Cut the
soda to ZERO cans per day, and drink water.

Yeah, I was hooked on soda for a long time. So I drink a lot more water now and if I get the urge for a soda , I drink a carbonated water! No sugar added..

i work outside and drink water, but there's only so much water i can drink lol.

I usually drink diet coke... all the other sodas are way to "syrupy" for me.

I do like occasionally some of the drinks they have here at bucees, especially the ones with REAL cane sugar in. Like for those that like "full fat" coke, drink either the kosha or the "mexican coke" it's made with real sugar.

but i'm a diet coke guy and drink a ton of it, and i really need to cut down on that too :D

soda water is actually pretty good for you, especially if you have an upset stomach or trapped wind.

I love soda water every now and again.

It is interesting that the body reacts to the artificial sweetness much like actual sugar. For some people the missing but expected because of the sweetner taste/effect can cause joint inflamation. Some think this is the body reacting, rather than the effect of the artificial product per say.

    YMMV of course!

Matt - many folks miss the flavor of soda, as plain water can get boring quickly.

Kombucha is a decent substitute, and can be very cost effective as well if home brewed.

One thing I dreaded were social situations where everyone has a drink. Even N/A beer can have empty calories one doesn't need.

A friend showed me how a tumbler with some ice, filled with club soda and then with a half dozen dashes of bitters makes not only a nice tasting drink, but looks "business enough" that no one suspects you are watching calories.

But if I have access, kombucha is my first choice, as the side benefits make it worthwhile including in one's diet in the first place.

not sure, i have the same "reaction" to anything non diet except some of the bucees real sugar ones.

I gues sit's because i can drink 4 cases of D/C a week sometimes (usually 4 12s). i have no idea i just dont like the taste.

it's like the old 80s coke vs pepsi taste the difference crap.. used to win a whole bunch of stuff when i came across those things in the stores... cus i CAN taste the difference and there's a significant difference for me lol

Diet is the biggest factor in weight management, and liquid calories are definitely low hanging fruit to cut out. Good start, and good luck with the journey.

Agree, water is good, and zero is ideal, but any reduction is a good start. It's better to make gradual but sustainable changes over time than to try and change everything in one hit and find it all too much (resulting in regression to old habits and a worse outcome than when you started).
