• Hockey season!

From Gamgee@21:2/138 to All on Wed Oct 12 21:37:00 2022
It's opening night of the (NHL) hockey season!

I know the NHL is played in the USA and Canada, but there are players in
the league from many countries. Anybody else a fan?

Since this is FSXnet, do you folks in Australia/New Zealand have any
hockey played down there? I know there are many professional leagues in Europe.

    Go Bruins!!!

    Go Bruins!!!

I want to get into the NHL (especially after MLB wraps up), but have a hard time watching anything other than drunken local hockey.

It feels like a matter of practice, but it's just not something I have much experience with as a Southerner.

Do you have anything you'd recommend?

I'm a Southerner now too (Florida), but was born/raised in New England,
where hockey is almost a "way of life". ;-) I watch a lot of NHL games
on TV, and am a season ticket holder for my local (Single-A level) pro
    hockey team.

Do you have anything you'd recommend?

Not sure what you're asking here... There are plenty of NHL games on
TV, especially if you get the cable "NHL Network" channel. :-)

Oh sweet. My wife and I aren't really into following sports much but we love going to watch the Sharks. I'll have to see if there are any upcoming games where we can get tickets. It's like a 15 minute drive from our house so it's perfect.

I live in Buffalo so I'm a Sabres fan. As I type this message I'm getting ready to watch the Sabres season opener.

I don't watch much hockey other than the Sabres and the Cup Playoffs.

Very nice, it's great to be that close to an NFL franchise. Not cheap
to attend in person, but worth it to do once in a while. Enjoy!

Excellent, nothing wrong with that! Hope you have a good year!

Cool. Hard for me to say "good luck" to a division rival though... ;-)

Pretty much the same for me (Bruins fan). I do also watch quite a few
Tampa Bay games because some sports channel down here in Florida
    broadcasts all their games.

Thanks! They put on a great show. And it's a trip seeing all the colorful characters in the stands, especially when there's a game against some big rival.

Yes indeed. The sound/lighting effects at hockey games are impressive.
I think it's the best sport to see live, with all the game noises, fast action, and occasional fights. :) Very exciting to see in person.

The biggest thing hockey has is the arena. It's easy to make a (relatively) small indoor space feel like an absolute riot if you know what you're doing
