• MMail and Windows

From Kevin Nunn@618:200/1 to All on Fri Jan 8 10:05:18 2021
Anyone else using Multimail under windows?

Seems like recently, past few months maybe, mm.exe has been randomly
crashing under Windows 10. The desktop disappears, and then I noticed
that it left a mm.exe thread out there running (tried to delete a temp directory and it was locked by that process). It seems like it does it
    during the unpacking/repacking process.

Sometimes I can kill the rogue mm.exe and rerun and it works fine.
Other times it refuses to unpack (qwk) or pack (rep) and I have to
clear all the work files and try it again.

Just wanted to see if anyone else was having similar issues.

(And it just happened on this reply, when I exited the editor it
crashed... but the reply was retained).

I've never had that issue and use it daily on win10/64bit. I'm using

What do you guys do for a text editor with MultiMail? a word-wrapping, GUI windowed text editor just doesn't seem right in context. I used to use my
old DOS editors in 32-bit XP, but can't with 64-bit Windows.

I tried, I'm a Qedit user (predecessor to TSE) and like the Wordstar ^k command set. There are a couple of 32-bit editors that can mimic it, but

    a) they're ugly.

    b) I've got 50+ year old eyes, and I like to run 80x25 full screen. I don't see a way to make a Windows command prompt run that way.

bluewave in dosbox if I am having a day where I need full screen.

With the command prompt I get a full screen window with little 10-point font in the corner. DOSBOX offers a full screen 25x80 text console where the text takes up the whole screen.

I think vDOS does. What I end up doing is going into Windows, creating a
text file with Notepad, copying the text into it, saving it in my DOS root, then reading the file into my text editor. It looks like there's some copy/paste functionality built in to DOSBOX 0.89 that I need to try out.
